Description of the IT-research project: Collaborative knowledge work is developing into the dominant form of work in highly developed industries, in which experts use their knowledge and experience to solve complex problems in teams, largely on their own responsibility. The goal of the Software Campus research project is to develop software that supports the processes of collaborative knowledge work in order to improve the productivity of knowledge workers in a sustainable way. While current approaches for the management of business processes are strongly focused on routine work, knowledge work requires a fundamentally different approach because adaptability and agility play a much more important role in this area. The developed solution is based on the known functionalities of a Wiki, where knowledge workers can create and store tasks and documents together in one place in addition to editing unstructured content. For frequently occurring knowledge-intensive tasks, (process) templates can also be used so that existing knowledge can be reused in the company. A significant progress is that these templates can also be developed together and improved evolutionarily by the end users. In cooperation with the industrial partner DATEV eG an existing knowledge-intensive process was analysed and evaluated in the research prototype. The existing innovation process was used in the research project.
