About me
What is your IT-Project about – core topic – and how could it be used in the long run?
We develop an AI-powered predictive maintenance system for the railway infrastructure together with the Deutsche Bahn. The aim of the project is to detect defects in the overhead contact line more early and reliably.
Career
What exactly was your personal reason to pursue a career in computer science?
I studied industrial engineering and got into computer science later than most of my peers: In the second semester of my Master’s degree at the Technical University of Denmark, a course on machine learning sparked my interest. Fortunately, universities in Denmark are very flexible with regard to study programmes, which allowed me to take almost exclusively machine learning courses for the remainder of my degree.
Personality
Which values and/or character traits do you valuate as fundamental for people in leading positions?
I believe that a good relationship based on genuine trust as well as honesty is the cornerstone of good leadership. These two things enable you to address even difficult issues and deal with mistakes constructively.
Mindset
What gets your creativity flowing?
Most often, writing. Through writing I can structure my thoughts and only after writing down ideas in detail, I really understand them. For me, this often brings new ideas, because I really get to think things through.
Impact
If there was one sentence with which you could reach out to every person, what would you tell the world? (feel free to create a short video of yourself)
I would like to share a quote from Andreas Voßkuhle, former president of the Federal Constitutional Court:
“The happiness you experience in life is not an event, but an attitude that you have to work on every day.”
