Federal President Gauck visited DFKI in Saarbrücken on May 2 together with about 30 foreign ambassadors working in Germany, including Prime Minister Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer. The visit took place in the context of the Federal President’s information and encounter journey with the diplomatic corps, which this year led to Saarland. Ever since 1996, Federal Presidents organize a yearly information and encounter journey with the heads of mission of the diplomatic corps and international organizations to one of the 16 federal states. The aim is to introduce foreign diplomats to Germany and the diversity of its regions. At DFKI, the Federal President was greeted by Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Wahlster, chairman of the board and scientific director of the DFKI and Dr. Walter Olthoff, commercial director.
DFKI employees and doctoral candidates presented different systems and concepts to the visitors, among them several Software Campus participants: Tom Thaler and Sharam Dadashnia (BPM SmartLego Factory), Mohammad Mehdi Moniri (EyeBots), Alexander Löffler (Display as a Service), Frederic Kerber (Innovative Retail Laboratory), Frederic Wiehr and Felix Kosmalla (Climbtrack).
Prof. Wahlster: “We are proud that Federal President Gauck honored us with his visit as part of the information and encounter journey for the diplomatic corps. We consider this to be an expression of appreciation for the DFKI and our role as a center of excellence and driver of innovation in the scientific and industrial environment.”
